I am a medical doctor who specialises in the mental health of children and adolescents.
I am a consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. After a career in the NHS spanning 20 years I now divide my time between my private practice and voluntary sector work. I have been a consultant psychiatrist since 2000 and l spent 8 years employed as a consultant in the NHS. Among other things I was responsible for establishing a specialist eating disorders outpatients service and a service to support children in long-term foster and adoptive placements. A graduate of Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, I trained as a physician, obtaining the MRCP diploma, before switching to psychiatry in 1993. I completed my psychiatry training on the St Georges Hospital specialist training scheme. I am a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and am registered with the Care Quality Commission and the GMC (registration 3302822). I am licensed by the National Autistic Society to use the NAS Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO). I am a co-founder of the Centre, a voluntary sector organisation which offers support to families in Westminster by running parenting courses which promote secure parent-child relationships. The Centre also delivers Circle of Security Parenting training in the UK and runs training events for professionals and information sessions for parents.
